PARKNUMA
PRIVACY POLICY
A Service of Karascope LLC

Introduction

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) applies to personal data collected and processed by Karascope LLC, doing business as Parknuma (“Parknuma,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), in the course of providing our parking management platform, as collected from our website at Parknuma.com (the “Site”), our iOS and Android mobile applications (the “Apps”), our application programming interfaces, and our related online service offerings (collectively with the Site and the Apps, the “Services”).

This Policy explains what personal data we collect from you, how we use and share that data, your rights and choices concerning your data, and how we protect your information. This Policy applies to all users of the Services, including End Users (individuals who use the Services to find, reserve, pay for, or manage parking) and representatives of Parking Operators (property owners, managers, or organizations that use the Services to manage parking at their facilities).

Please review this Policy carefully before using the Services or providing any personal data to us. By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Policy. If you do not agree to this Policy, you may not access or use the Services.

If you have questions about this Policy, please contact us at [email protected].

1. Personal Data We Collect

“Personal Data” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be linked to a particular individual, as defined under applicable data protection and privacy laws. Personal Data does not include publicly available information from government records, de-identified or aggregate information, or information excluded from the scope of applicable privacy laws.

1.1 Personal Data You Provide

We collect Personal Data that you voluntarily provide when you register for an account, use the Services, or otherwise interact with us. The categories of Personal Data we collect depend on how you use the Services and may include:

  • Account information: Your name, email address, phone number, and authentication credentials (e.g., your Google account, Apple account, email magic link, or phone number for OTP verification).

  • Vehicle information: License plate number, vehicle make, model, year, and color.

  • Parking activity data: Parking session history, reservation details, permit information, monthly plan enrollment, parking facility interactions, and related transactional data.

  • Payment information: Payment method type and last four digits of your card number (for display purposes only). We do not store full payment card numbers, CVVs, or sensitive financial account information in our systems. All payment processing is handled by our third-party payment processor, Stripe, Inc. (“Stripe”), and your payment information is subject to Stripe’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

  • Communications: Any messages, feedback, support requests, or other communications you send to us.

  • Parking Operator data: If you are a representative of a Parking Operator, we collect business contact information, organization details, and facility information you provide in connection with your use of the Services.

1.2 Personal Data We Collect Automatically

When you access or use the Services, we automatically collect certain information about your device, usage, and interactions. This may include:

Device information: Device type, manufacturer, model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers, and browser type and version. Our error-monitoring tools collect general device information (e.g., device model and OS version) as necessary to diagnose and resolve technical issues.

Log data: Internet Protocol (IP) address, access times, referring URLs, pages viewed, and interactions with the Services.

Usage data: Information about how you use the Services, including features accessed, actions taken, session duration, and frequency of use. We use product analytics tools to understand usage patterns and improve the Services. These tools may identify your activity by an anonymous identifier; we minimize linkage to identifiable user profiles unless necessary for error resolution or service improvement.

Location data (mobile apps only): With your permission, we collect your device’s approximate or precise location while the app is in use. Location data is used solely to deliver parking management services, such as displaying nearby parking facilities, facilitating digital access control (e.g., verifying your proximity to a facility before allowing a gate to open), and providing directions. We do not track your location in the background or for any purpose unrelated to the Services. You may disable location services at any time through your device settings, but doing so may limit certain features of the Apps.

1.3 Personal Data Collected by Parking Operators

Parking Operators that use the Parknuma platform may collect additional information about you in connection with their parking facilities, including automated license plate recognition (“ALPR”) data. ALPR data may include license plate numbers, images, timestamps, and location information. Where Parknuma processes ALPR data, it does so on behalf of the Parking Operator, as described in our End User Terms of Use. Parknuma will not sell ALPR data or use it for purposes unrelated to the Services.

1.4 Personal Data from Third Parties

We may receive Personal Data about you from third parties, including: (a) authentication providers (Google, Apple) when you choose to log in using those services; (b) Parking Operators who provide your information to set up or manage your parking account; and (c) employers or organizations that enroll you in a parking program through the Services.

2. How We Use Your Personal Data

We use the Personal Data we collect for the following purposes:

  • Providing the Services: To operate, maintain, and deliver the Services to you, including processing parking sessions, reservations, monthly plans, and permits; managing your account; processing payments through Stripe; facilitating parking validations and discounts; and communicating with you about your parking activity.

  • Parking management: To manage parking on behalf of Parking Operators, including tracking vehicle data, assigning parking spaces, facilitating enforcement-related technology tools, processing unauthorized vehicle reports, and administering fees and penalties.

  • Communications: To send you transactional notifications (e.g., parking session confirmations, expiration reminders, payment receipts, penalty notices), account-related communications, and service updates. You may adjust your notification preferences in your account settings.

  • Service improvement: To analyze usage patterns, diagnose technical issues, conduct product analytics, monitor error rates, improve the functionality and user experience of the Services, and develop new features.

  • Security and fraud prevention: To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent, unauthorized, or illegal activity, and to protect the security and integrity of the Services.

  • Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, and governmental requests, and to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, and/or that of our affiliates, Parking Operators, you, or other third parties.

We do not sell your Personal Data to any third party. We do not use Personal Data collected through the Apps (our mobile applications) for advertising, targeted marketing, or profiling for marketing purposes. Our Site (website) may use cookies and similar technologies for marketing, lead generation, and advertising optimization purposes as described in Section 3 below; these activities are directed at prospective business customers visiting our Site and are not used to target or profile End Users of our parking services.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

3.1 What We Use

We use cookies and similar technologies on our Site and in our Apps. The types of technologies we use and the purposes for which we use them differ between our Site (which includes marketing and informational pages) and our Apps (which deliver parking management services).

  • Essential cookies (Site and Apps): Authentication session cookies to keep you logged in, and preference cookies to remember your display settings (e.g., site theme). These are necessary for the operation of the Services.

  • Analytics (Site and Apps): We use product analytics tools that place a cookie or use similar identifiers to help us understand how users interact with the Services, identify usage trends, and improve functionality. These tools use anonymous or pseudonymous identifiers and do not track you across other websites or applications.

  • Marketing and advertising technologies (Site only): Our Site may use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies provided by third-party advertising and analytics platforms (such as Google, LinkedIn, Meta, Reddit, and other providers) to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns, optimize advertising spend, perform conversion tracking, and serve relevant advertisements to visitors of our Site on other platforms. These technologies may collect information about your browsing activity on our Site and may enable third-party advertising platforms to recognize your browser or device on other websites for the purpose of serving targeted advertisements. These marketing technologies are used on our Site in connection with lead generation for Parking Operator business customers and are not deployed within our Apps or used to target or profile End Users of our parking services.

3.2 Apps: No Advertising or Cross-App Tracking

Our Apps (iOS and Android mobile applications) do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, retargeting technologies, or advertising identifiers. We do not track your activity across other apps or websites through the Apps, and we do not participate in any cross-app advertising networks. The Apps use only essential cookies and first-party analytics as described above.

3.3 Your Choices

Most web browsers allow you to manage cookie preferences through their settings. You can refuse or delete cookies by adjusting your browser settings. Please note that disabling essential cookies may prevent you from accessing certain features of the Services. If you wish to opt out of interest-based advertising served by third-party advertising platforms on our Site, you may visit the Network Advertising Initiative at www.networkadvertising.org/choices, the Digital Advertising Alliance at www.aboutads.info/choices, or adjust your advertising preferences through the applicable platform’s settings (e.g., Google Ad Settings, LinkedIn Ad Preferences, Meta Ad Preferences).

4. Sharing and Disclosure of Personal Data

We do not sell your Personal Data. We share your Personal Data only in the following circumstances:

4.1 Parking Operators

We share your Personal Data (including your name, contact information, vehicle information, parking activity, and ALPR data where applicable) with the Parking Operator(s) at the facility or facilities where you park. This sharing is necessary to provide the Services and to enable the Parking Operator to manage parking at its facilities. The Parking Operator’s use of your Personal Data is subject to the Parking Operator’s own privacy practices.

4.2 Service Providers

We engage third-party service providers to perform functions on our behalf. These service providers process your Personal Data only as necessary to provide their services to us and are contractually obligated to protect your data. Our service providers fall into the following categories: (a) cloud infrastructure and hosting providers; (b) payment processing (Stripe, Inc., which directly handles your payment card data in accordance with PCI-DSS standards); (c) email delivery services; (d) SMS and text message delivery services; (e) product analytics and error-monitoring services; and (f) advertising and marketing analytics platforms (used on our Site only, as described in Section 3). We may change or add service providers from time to time. A current list of our sub-processors is available upon request for legitimate purposes by contacting [email protected].

We enter into written agreements with our service providers containing data protection terms requiring them to protect your Personal Data in accordance with this Policy and applicable law.

4.3 Business Transfers

If Karascope LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your Personal Data may be shared as part of the due diligence process and transferred to a successor or affiliate as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your Personal Data.

4.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with a legal obligation, including law enforcement requests; (b) protect and defend our rights or property, or those of our Parking Operators or users; (c) prevent fraud or other illegal activity; (d) protect the personal safety of users of the Services or the public; or (e) protect against legal liability.

4.5 With Your Consent

We may share your Personal Data with third parties when you have given us your explicit consent to do so.

4.6 Aggregate and De-Identified Data

We may collect, generate, use, and share aggregate or de-identified data derived from your use of the Services for any lawful purpose, including analytics, benchmarking, research, and improving the Services. This data does not identify any individual.

5. Data Retention

We retain your Personal Data for as long as your account is active or as reasonably necessary to provide the Services to you, fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

When you delete your account (see Section 8), we will delete or de-identify your Personal Data within ninety (90) days, except to the extent that retention is required by applicable law, necessary to resolve pending disputes, or needed to prevent fraud. Certain data (such as transaction records) may be retained in anonymized or aggregate form after account deletion.

ALPR data is retained only for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, in accordance with applicable law and the Parking Operator’s data retention instructions.

6. Data Security

We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Our security measures include:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest.

  • Access controls limiting employee and contractor access to Personal Data on a need-to-know basis.

  • Secure authentication methods, including Google OAuth, Apple Sign-In, email magic links, and phone OTP. Password authentication, where enabled, uses bcrypt encryption hashing.

  • Regular security assessments and incident response procedures.

  • Payment card data is never stored in our systems; all payment processing is handled by Stripe in accordance with PCI-DSS standards.

No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You use the Services at your own risk and are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Account Information

You may access and update your account information at any time by logging into your account through the Apps or the Site. You are responsible for ensuring that your information is accurate and current.

7.2 Account Deletion

You may delete your Parknuma account at any time through the account settings in the Apps. When you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your Personal Data in accordance with Section 5 of this Policy. Please note that deletion of your account will cancel any active parking sessions, reservations, monthly plans, or permits, and you will not be entitled to a refund for any prepaid amounts except as provided in our Parking Program Terms.

7.3 Notification Preferences

You may adjust your notification preferences (including push notifications, SMS, and email communications) through your account settings in the Apps. Transactional notifications related to active parking sessions, payments, and enforcement actions are required for the operation of the Services and cannot be fully disabled while your account is active. You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message.

7.4 Location Services

You may grant or revoke permission for the Apps to access your device’s location at any time through your device’s operating system settings. Disabling location services may limit certain features, such as displaying nearby facilities or facilitating digital access control.

7.5 Push Notifications

You may enable or disable push notifications through your device settings. Disabling push notifications may affect your ability to receive timely alerts about parking sessions, expirations, and enforcement actions.

7.6 Cookie Preferences

You may manage cookie preferences through your web browser settings. Disabling authentication cookies will prevent you from using the Site.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the age of sixteen (16). No one under sixteen years of age may create an account or use the Services without the consent of a parent or legal guardian, as described in our End User Terms of Use. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under the age of thirteen (13). If we learn that we have collected Personal Data from a child under thirteen without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under thirteen, please contact us at [email protected].

9. Third-Party Services and Links

The Services may contain links to third-party websites, services, or applications not owned or controlled by Parknuma. This Policy applies only to Personal Data collected by Parknuma through the Services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third party, including Parking Operators, Stripe, or any other third-party service. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party service before providing your Personal Data.

When you log in to the Services using Google or Apple authentication, we receive only the information you authorize those services to share (typically your name and email address). We do not access or store your Google or Apple account password.

10. International Data Transfers

Parknuma is based in the United States and the Services are operated from the United States. All Personal Data collected through the Services is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, please be aware that your Personal Data will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States, which may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Services, you consent to the transfer of your Personal Data to the United States.

These advertising technologies are not used within our Apps or directed at End Users of our parking services.

  • Right Against Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.

11.2 How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of the rights described above, please contact us at [email protected] or use the in-app account deletion feature for deletion requests. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. We will respond to verifiable requests within forty-five (45) days of receipt, or notify you if an extension of up to an additional forty-five (45) days is needed. 12. Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR)

Certain parking facilities that use the Parknuma platform may utilize automated license plate recognition technology. Where ALPR is used, the following applies:

  • Purpose: ALPR data is collected and used solely for parking management, access control, and enforcement support on behalf of the Parking Operator.

  • Data collected: License plate numbers, images, timestamps, and location information.

  • Data controller: The Parking Operator is the controller of ALPR data collected at its facility. Parknuma processes ALPR data on behalf of the Parking Operator in accordance with this Policy, our Customer Terms of Service, and applicable law.

  • No sale: Parknuma will not sell ALPR data or use it for purposes unrelated to the Services.

This section provides additional disclosures required for mobile application distribution platforms.

13.1 Data Collection and Use (iOS and Android)

The Parknuma Apps collect the following categories of data, as described in detail throughout this Policy:

  • Contact info: Name, email address, phone number (used for account management and communications).

  • Location: Approximate and precise location while app is in use, with your permission (used for parking services, not tracked in background).

  • Identifiers: User ID, device identifiers (used for account management, analytics, and error tracking).

13.2 Tracking

The Parknuma Apps do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising or marketing purposes. Note that our Site (website) may use marketing technologies as described in Section 3; these are separate from and do not affect the Apps.

13.3 Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through the account settings within the Apps. Account deletion will remove your Personal Data in accordance with Section 5 of this Policy.

14. Do Not Track Signals

Our Services do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) browser signals. This is consistent with common industry practice, as there is no universally accepted standard for how to respond to DNT signals. You may use the cookie management and advertising opt-out tools described in Section 3.3 to manage your preferences regarding tracking technologies on our Site. Our Apps do not engage in cross-app tracking regardless of DNT settings.
